There are several myths regarding insomnia. You must understand the difference between insomnia and mythology related beliefs. However, the truth is that both the young and the elderly need equal amount of sleep.
There are several other mythical beliefs about insomnia. It is a myth that the brain rests while sleeping. On the contrary, the brain remains active while you are asleep. It maintains digestion, supply of oxygen and heartbeats. According to another old myth, you are not supposed to get up from the bed if you wake up in the middle of the night. Keeping still will put you back to sleep. However, this is not necessarily right. You could continue to keep tossing in bed. A better option could be to read a book, which may put you back to sleep. Now you must have realized that proper treatment is what is required to treat insomnia and mythology or mythological beliefs have no role to play.
